President’s Message for Jan. 2015
So where’s the Snow?
I’ve started looking at seed catalogs. And what to do about the bug infestation this summer? Remember this was last winter’s scenario. This brings us to the January 3, BEST HAND FUN SKI/SNOWSHOE. See flyer Best Hand Fun Event. Last year it was postponed due to death defying ice in the parking lot at 4th of July. Barring any weather catastrophe the show will go on. We will walk the loop if need be. After the high calorie food and drinks of the holidays, it is time to get back in the groove and get some exercise. Wear some Hawaiian gear.
If you didn’t sign up to volunteer, talk to Geoff before or at the event. We have some great outdoor prizes for the best card hands and certificates for meals, recreation and fitness activities. Tis the season for regifting. If there is a gift you received that wasn’t quite what you had hoped for, here’s your chance to unload it. Think of it as a white elephant prize for someone else to cherish or pass on to the next sucker. We could use a few more small prizes.
Invite your friends and family and a park n ski sticker is not needed. There will be oranges, beverages, snacks and a weenie and marsh mellow roast at the cabin. See you Sat, Jan. 3rd, registration is from 10:30 to 11:30.
Yours truly will be interviewed regarding the Best Hand, Dec. 26th on KPND, 95.3 FM at 8:30am or thereabouts. Enclosed is the flyer to give or email to others.
Nordic Club Membership
Yes, it is true that the club runs on cookies but our paid memberships are about 30% lower than last year at this time. The $15 dues are a bargain and the club is run on a small budget. Please join up at the Best Hand Fun Ski, Jan. 6th club meeting or mail to PO Box 2583, Hayden 83835.
Sled Dog Racing and Ski Jouring
Tuesday, Jan 6th meeting will be at the Fire Station #3 at 1500 15th Ave by Cherry Hill Park. Jean Arnold who raises Siberian huskies will be the featured speaker. Meeting starts at 7:00pm
