Presidents
Message
December 6, 2005 Meeting:
Presidents Message
I have writers block and paranoia. Not a good
combination. Here it is the Saturday after the Big Feast.
I have written this before. Why do I know this? I was
looking at the Panhandle Nordic Club website looking for
ideas for this newsletter. I used to whine about not
having a website and now Hilma is doing too good of a
job. Now anyone and everyone can look up past newsletters
and see that the Presidents column is nothing but
plagiarism month after month, year after year. I think my
acid reflux is kicking in also. Oh brave new world! My
credibility is gone.
At our November meeting a small but hardcore group of
club members came to see the power point slide show that
Geoff Harvey put together regarding club activities.
Another great presentation even if there wasnt any
popcorn to go around. The low turnout was in part due to
not having a secretary to send out the meeting schedule
so not everyone was informed of the meeting. The good
news is that Donna Harvey has signed on again as
secretary after taking a years sabbatical. Bless
her pea pickin heartwhatever that means. My stress
is reduced and I will be nice to Donna. As you can see it
doesnt take much to push me over the brink.
As for snow it will just happen. Im putting on snow
tires this weekend which is probably not following last
months presidential request. Did you read the
newsletter? It is there for all eternity. Check out the
website. We are wanting everyone to look the website to
find out information about meetings, activities, etc.
Hilma is designing a Blog site that can be used to post
trail conditions, sell/swap equipment, etc. How about a
singles column? The Panhandle Nordic Club is getting so
cool.
Make sure you invite a friend to the next meeting since
it is going to be a good one and bring lots of cookies.

December 6 Meeting
Ted Farwell will tell us about his
experiences as a competitive ski racer from 1948 through
1960. He participated in three Olympics
in cross country skiing and placed 11th in the Nordic
Combined at the V1 Olympic Games in Oslo, Norway. Ted
also travels throughout North America with his business,
Winterstar Valuations, Inc. which specializes in ski
resort consulting, design and appraisal. Check out
Teds website at winterstar@adelphia.net.
A
Round of Applause
A big thank you to everyone who helped out with the fall
cleanup and bathroom renovation. Also Gene Ratcliff made
a sign with our email address that is displayed above the
4th of July cabin.
Trips,
Trips and More Trips: Several day trips
and an overnight trip or two were mentioned at the first
meeting. Sign up sheets will be available for any trip
YOU want to plan or for any trip for which you would like
to sign up. Snowshoe trips are being encouraged.
We are looking for WEEKDAY skiers who would like to
ski with those who work weekends. Please let us know on
the blogspot. Thanks.
I Want To Be in Pictures
Please
bring new and old photos of club happenings,
i.e., ski adventures, 4th of July cleanup activities and
summer hikes. Jeannette is our historian and will put
them into our photo album for this and future generations
to admire. Please label the pictures which will help to
limit arguments regarding who, when, where or what
happened at a specific club function.
